Installation 2016 in the cinema space of Hotel Maria Kapel, in the show: "Mattering Matter"
a work that dealt with the expectations associated with the cinema space, in an attempt to change the roles that each of the different territories; screen and seating area represent. The video projection: “Grey Immanence” by Baha Gorkem Yalim shows an oil lamp that flickers and at certain moment goes off, it is the only light source in the space and therefor also functions as an actual lamp, casting a (limited) light upon the objects which are placed among the seats and on the floor.
The objects are props for imagined science fiction film but at the same time come to represent the loneliness of single cinema goers in dark corners.
The shapes of the objects do not stand out clearly in the dim light, their materials are iridescent, semi transparent or shiny, hinting at an illusory sensuality and allure, similarly to how a film can twist and tease a spectator’s senses. The Installation also featured the sculpture: "Jar (limited life cycle)" by Arian de Vette.
A publication with interviews and texts on the process of making was created for the occasion.
